Sexual Perversion
In this edition, I shall be discussing one of the most common errors found among humans today. It is clear that sin sent the first man out of the beautiful garden that the Lord planted for him. Today, the devil is relentless in his efforts at doing the same thing to man. One major way by which he does that is by deceiving people to define sin on their own terms; i.e.by what they feel is morally right or wrong.
Unfortunately, because the devil is more cunning than the human mind, he blindfolds the eyes of many against the truth. The Bible however says:
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32).
If you embrace the truth of God’s Word concerning man’s sexuality, you will enjoy freedom indeed.
Satan has brought a lot of moral perversion to the world today. Many people are being deceived daily and are on their way to hell. There are lots of sexual perversions the world over. Lies from the pit of hell are being injected into the human mind through every available medium. Almost every week, I receive mail concerning whether masturbation and watching Pornographic films are sin or not:
Let’s go back to what the Word of God says in Matthew 13:24-30:
Another parable put him forth unto them, saying, the kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? From whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, an enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
But he said, nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
The good seed that is sown in the land of this good man can be likened to the sexuality of man. God put this urge in man so that a man and woman (married) can have pleasure together, unite and demonstrate love to each other in the most intimate and vulnerable way humanly possible.
1 Corinthians 7:2-5 says:
Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.
The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
Defraud ye not one the other, except [it be] with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
God created sex for enjoyment and pleasure. It is meant to be confined to the marriage relationship (between a man and a woman) only, because it is also designed to express love (not just sexual love), unity, and total commitment. God has good intentions for sex, but today out of the reprobate minds of men has evolved masturbation, pornography, lesbianism, homosexuality, etc.
Romans 1:24-32 says:
Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves…
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature…
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.
And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient…
Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. (Emphasis mine)
You now understand that these perversions are the outcome of the heart that is no longer following God. In this edition, I will be discussing the evil called masturbation
Masturbation is defined as the act of someone giving himself/herself sexual pleasure by rubbing/handling his/her sexual organs. What is, therefore, meant to be shared between two married people is perverted by one person who is consumed by lustful sexual desire.
In masturbation, self-pleasure is fuelled by mental sexual pictures to the extent that such people feel that they are in the actual sexual act. For this reason people who masturbate also get involved in watching pornographic materials or having such pictures/images around them.
Masturbation is one of the acts of uncleanness that the Bible talks about in Romans 1:24-32. That is why those who engage in it confess to feeling messed up and unclean before God, after each episode because they cannot face the holy God after engaging in such an unholy act.
Do not be deceived, God will not lower His standards for you. God’s word says:
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. (2Timothy 2:19).
In the next edition, I will be addressing some of the dangers of masturbation as well as the way out. You will be free indeed in Jesus’ name.
You however need to surrender your life to Jesus, so that He can empower you to live victoriously in the area of your sexuality. If that is your desire, then pray this prayer sincerely to Him: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I realize that I am a sinner. Wash me, clean from my sin and make me a new creature. Write my name in the Book of Life. Thank You for saving me. Now, I know that I am born again.

Sexual Perversion (2)
In the last edition, we looked at the prevalent issue of sexual perversions with particular emphasis on masturbation. Having defined what it is and seen from the Word of God that it is an evil, I would like to continue in this edition by considering some of the evils that masturbation can cause in your life:
1. Psychological effects: Masturbation has the tendency to isolate its captives psychologically and socially. In masturbation, the person is focused on self alone, even though he or she usually is fantasizing about someone else at the same time. This is not a healthy state to be in as it hampers normal, selfless inter-personal relationships that are indispensable aspects of a psychologically stable life.
2. Emotional deprivation: It is impossible for the one who is practising this habit to experience the full extent of sexual emotions as God, the author of sex intended. Therefore, in short-circuiting the emotions, one can easily be removed from the world of reality settling for less than the best that is available in terms of sexual satisfaction.
3. Damaged sensibility: The habit of masturbation has a tendency to numb the mechanism and sensitivity of the sexual organs if practiced excessively. This lessens the sensitivity and typical responses of the sex organs in a normal man-woman setting, thus detracting from normal sexual relations of married life.
4. Tampering with God’s plan for procreation: One of the reasons God made sex is for the procreation of the human race. If everyone masturbated no one would get pregnant! I read about a particular monkey species called the ‘African Drill.’ This monkey belongs to one of the endangered animal species in the world. This particular monkey gives birth to a child once in six years! Why? The monkey would rather masturbate than mate! God’s plan is for us to get married and give birth to children through the sexual act. Masturbation undermines that.
4. Self-gratification: This is a great danger to any marriage relationship that must thrive and be healthy. The emotional state of self-gratification which is what masturbation is all about, is not the least bit healthy and usually militates against the home, spouse and family because it is focused only on self.
5. Control of the mind: Along with the act of masturbation comes the fantasy in the mind. When practiced often, a pattern or cycle seems to become established within the individual’s mind where he/she is cut off from reality and cannot achieve sexual harmony and success outside this fantasy world! Thus, perversion has a tendency to control the mind and this in turn initiates the act. It is an unending vicious cycle which only the power of God can break. The real danger lies in the guilt that increases as the individual dwells in this world of fantasy.
Do not live like the people of the world, the Bible says:
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2).
If you are already hooked, the tips below will help you break this sinful act:
Be Born Again:
The power that can break any bad habit is found in the blood of Jesus Christ. If you are already caught in the web of this sinful act, what you need to do is to dedicate your life to Him. Let Him take over the affairs of your life. You will be amazed how free you will be. The Bible says:
Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (2Corinthians 5:7).
Wash Your Mind with the Word of God:
Your mind needs to be washed and renewed. The Word is a cleaning reagent, the Bible likens it to water,
…the washing of water by the word, (Ephesians 5:26)
This you can do by making it a habit to daily read the Bible, meditate on what you read, listen to messages/sermons, listen to godly, edifying music, read anointed Christian materials, share the gospel with others and constantly keep your mind flooded with the spiritual detergent of the Word of God.
Be filled with the Holy Spirit
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; (Ephesians 5:18)
If you are Spirit filled, the thirst for this dirty habit will be taken over. Your mind will always bring out profitable ideas.
Avoid loneliness:
Loneliness is a major trigger for masturbation. Get involved in profitable ventures. Fellowship with brethren and be accountable to them on how you spend your time. Get involved in some physically-tasking activity like sports that will not only distract your mind but will also serve as an avenue for redirecting your energies.
Freedom however starts from having a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Your relationship with Jesus will empower you to live a life of victory despite what your experiences have been hitherto. Pray this prayer sincerely if you want to invite Jesus into your heart: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. Wash me clean from my sin and make me a new creature. Thank You Jesus for writing my name in the Book of life and giving me a new beginning with You. Now, I know that I am born again. Amen!
